Got a grain of salt?

CAVEAT: The source is CBS, stained by Dan Rather's manufactured facts (translation: he's a liar.) But taken with the proverbial grain of salt, maybe there's a worthwhile kernel in there..

  1. From what I have seen working in county libraries this past year, this article is true. It seems as though library patronage has increased by more than 50 percent than it was at the beginning of my first year.
We all work so hard trying to meet the publics needs we don't have much time to judge anyone about why they are there.
There are many low income families coming in for library cards and to take advantage of the free entertainment and education they could not otherwise afford in these difficult economic times. I have never looked at these services as "freebies" for anyone. Everyone is working hard, volunteers, staff, student interns, and the library executive team, and especially the people who come to the library to look for jobs or to learn english or to teach their children to read.
Walk into any library, sit down and just watch for awhile, you will see what I am saying is true.

  2. I agree with this posting as you wrote it Jennifer. Libraries are IMPORTANT IN THIS TIME especially during the recession. Not only does help others in job searches, but it provides a place for many people to go to search out what they need. STILL TRYING TO FIGURE OUT THE DAN RATHER COMMENT!!!!!!! ( it didn't have anything to do with the hardships in libraries.)
